Yale opens its season against the Crusaders for third-straight year and won last season’s matchup in New Haven, 23-10. In 2020, the Elis head to Worcester, Mass., to play at Fitton Stadium. Holy Cross won a conference championship last season with a 5-1 record in Patriot League play, advancing to the NCAA FCS playoffs where they fell to No. 14 Monmouth.
The Bulldogs start the season with a two-game road swing as they begin Ivy League play at Cornell on Saturday, September 26. Yale earned a hard-fought victory last season, 27-16, while the Big Red went on to defeat Dartmouth in week nine to set up the Elis for their 16th Ivy League Championship. Cornell finished the year 4-6 overall and 3-4 in league play.
The Yale Bowl opens in 2020 on Saturday, October 3, when Lehigh comes to New Haven. The two teams last met in the 2017 opener where the Bulldogs triumphed, 56-28. The Mountain Hawks went 4-7 in 2019 and 3-3 in Patriot League play.
Ivy League foe Dartmouth comes down to the Yale Bowl in week four on Saturday, October 10, for a key matchup. Dartmouth also went 9-1 overall and 6-1 in Ivy play last season.
The Elis wrap a three-game homestand on Saturday, October 17 when they take on the Richmond Spiders for the second time ever. The two teams first met last season at Robins Stadium when Yale scored two touchdowns in the final 90 seconds to win, 28-27. Richmond finished the season 5-7 overall and 4-4 in CAA play.
Yale closes out October on the road with Ivy League matchups at Penn (10/24) and at Columbia (10/31).
Penn and the Bulldogs played a thriller at the Yale Bowl last season with the Elis winning a shootout, 46-41. The Quakers ended the year 5-5 overall and 3-4 in Ivy play, including a 24-20 win at Harvard.
Yale won big at home against Columbia in 2019, 45-10, but the Lions rebounded the next week with a 17-10 overtime win against Harvard. Columbia went 3-7 with a 2-5 Ivy mark.
The month of November kicks off with two home games against Brown (11/7) and Princeton (11/14). The Elis scored over 50 points in both road wins against the Bears and Tigers which helped set up its Ivy League clinching win against the Crimson.
Brown finished 2-8 and 1-6 in Ivy League play while Princeton finished third in the conference with a 5-2 mark and an 8-2 overall record.
The 137th playing of The Game will take place in Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday, November 21. The Crimson went 4-6 overall with a 2-5 Ivy record.
The Bulldogs went 9-1 in 2019 and captured the Ivy League crown in dramatic fashion with a come-from-behind, double-overtime win against Harvard, 50-43, at the Yale Bowl in the 136th playing of The Game.
