UNCASVILLE – While complete seeding for WNBA Playoffs 2017 presented by Verizon is yet tobe determined, the Connecticut Sun have announced dates for a possible postseason home game. Depending upon where the team ultimately finishes in the overall WNBA standings, Connecticut will host a playoff game at Mohegan Sun Arena on September 7, 10, or 12.
At 19-10, the Sun have the third best record in the WNBA.
Connecticut, which can finish no worse than a No. 6 seed at the end of the regular season, locked up at least one home playoff game with the win over Phoenix
Sunday.
Under the current WNBA format, eight teams qualify for the
postseason. Teams finishing Nos. 5-8 will play a single-elimination game in the
first round, with the five and six seeds hosting. Under that scenario, should the
Sun fall to five or six, they would host a first round game on Sept. 7.
If the Sun hold onto their No. 3 seed, or even if they slip
to four, they would earn a first-round bye and host a single-elimination game
in the second round on Sept. 10. Should the Sun finish as one of the top two
teams in the WNBA, they would receive two byes, and host the first game of a
best-of-five semifinal series on Sept. 12.
The Sun play their last two games of the regular season tonight
against Dallas and Friday night against Chicago. Both games start at 7 p.m. For
