UNCASVILLE—The Connecticut Sun have announced their local television line-up for the 2018 season. NBCSports Boston returns for the second season, and is scheduled to air 22 Sun games, while FOX 61/CW20 will televise five.
“I am thrilled to announce our 2018 broadcast package, which will provide an unprecedented level of local coverage to supplement our nationally televised games,” said Amber Cox, the Vice President of the Connecticut Sun. “Our team is one of the most exciting in the WNBA, and thanks to our local broadcast partners, we’ll be able to share that exciting brand of basketball in households across New England. In addition, these broadcasts provide a tremendous platform to showcase the marketing partners who stand behind the Sun, what our league stands for and the women who represent us.”
NBC Sports Boston will carry 13 home
games and seven road games, while FOX 61/CW20 will air five of the Sun’s road
games. The Sun will also be featured on ESPN2 two times at Mohegan Sun Arena
(May 24 vs. Los Angeles and June 13 vs. Washington) as well as three times on
Twitter (May 20 vs. Las Vegas, August 14 vs. Dallas and August 19 vs. Los
Angeles). Remaining games can be seen on the WNBA’s League Pass App, which is
available for download on iTunes and Android devices. WNBA Leagues Pass is also
available on desktop at wnba.com/leaguepass. Local
blackout restrictions apply.
Beginning his 16th season with the
Sun, Bob Heussler will deliver the play-by-play for all broadcasts. An anchor
for the country’s first all-sports radio station—WFAN in New York—Heussler has
over 30 years of experience as a basketball play-by-play announcer. He is the
radio and television voice of Fairfield University basketball and has been the
backup radio play-by-play announcer for the Brooklyn Nets since
2008. He will partner with Sarah Kustok and Rebecca Lobo
throughout the 2018 season.
Returning to Sun broadcasts for her second
season, Kustok is the primary analyst for Brooklyn Nets’ broadcasts on
YES, where she began in 2012 as a courtside reporter for the team after three
years as an anchor and reporter with NBC Sports Chicago. Kustok was the game
analyst this NBA postseason on TNT’s VR broadcasts through the Western
Conference Finals. Additionally, she is an analyst for FOX Sports 1's Big East
men’s regular season college basketball telecasts and FOX Sports 1's studio
analyst for its Big 12 and Big East women's basketball tournaments.
Lobo is an
ESPN basketball analyst and 2017 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee who
led UConn to its first National Championship in 1995 before helping launch the
WNBA. She finished her playing career with the Sun in 2003, and has frequently
served as an analyst for Connecticut since her retirement. The first
independently owned WNBA franchise, the Connecticut Sun will look to build on a
21-win season highlighted by the first playoff appearance since 2012.
Season tickets for 2018 start at $22 per game and are available now. Visit ConnecticutSun.com or call
