SNY Announces UConn Women’s Basketball Coverage

NEW YORK–SNY (@snytv), the official television home of UConn women’s basketball (@uconnwbb), has announced the network’s comprehensive coverage for 2017-2018 season. Featuring more than 350 hours of programming, SNY’s live game schedule gets underway when the No. 1 Huskies host the University of California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 Conference at Gampel Pavilion on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m.

The evening’s coverage kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with UConn Women’s Basketball Preview Show, hosted by Gary Apple (@gappleSNY) and featuring former Husky stars Kara Wolters and Meghan Culmo (@meghanculmo). Wolters and Culmo will also be featured on SNY’s studio coverage throughout the 2017-18 campaign, including the UConn Women’s Basketball Pre-Game, Postgame and Halftime Shows. 

Play-by-play announcer Eric Frede (@ericfrede) returns for his fifth season as the Husky women’s television voice on SNY.  Frede will be joined courtside by game analyst Culmo, as well as in-game reporter Justine Ward (@justinebward), who will also contribute onsite coverage during the pre- and postgame shows.
New this season, in addition to UConn women’s basketball games, all pre- and postgame coverage on SNY will be accessible live on mobile devices via SNY.tv and the NBC Sports. The NBC Sports app is available on Apple iOS, Android and select Samsung devices, as well as on Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Win10 and Xbox.

SNY’s 2017-2018 schedule will also see the return of the network’s UConn-based original programming. 
Huskies All-Access will take viewers behind the scenes as the team looks to rebound from last year’s devastating Final Four loss. SNY cameras provide exclusive access to the players and coaches on and off the court throughout the preseason, including the team’s 10-day tour of Italy in August, as the UConn women prepare to chase the program’s unprecedented 12th national championship. The Emmy Award-winning show will premiere on Fri., Nov. 17, immediately following the UConn-California post-game show

Immediately following Huskies All-Access, The Geno Auriemma Show will kick off its sixth season on SNY. The 10-episode series hosted by Justine Ward, brings viewers the Hall of Fame coach’s insight on game strategy, player performances, and the challenges facing the team and coaching staff during the year throughout the season. A new episode of Geno’s Legacy will premiere on Tues., Jan. 9, at 9:30 p.m., following SNY’s UConn-UCF telecast.  The half-hour program, filmed during the team’s trip to Italy, features a candid interview with Coach Auriemma who will ruminate on his career, his current mindset, and what keeps him motivated after so many years.  This will be the interview series’ eighth installment, and has also offered insight from former UConn stars Rebecca Lobo, Sue Bird, Tina Charles, and Kara Wolters, among others.

For daily coverage, viewers can tune into SportsNite on SNY from 10:30 p.m.-1 a.m. ET.
