Sound Tigers Ink Yale Star

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have signed Yale star Ryan Hitchcock to an
Amateur Tryout (ATO) contract. 
BRIDGEPORT—The Bridgeport Sound Tigers added a little local flavor today when they the signing Yale star Ryan Hitchcock to an Amateur Tryout (ATO) contract. Hitchcock, a 5-10, 180-lb. forward, tallied a career-high 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 31 games this season while serving as Yale's captain during this, his senior campaign.

A Manhasset, N.Y., native—another natural match as the Sound Tigers are the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders—Hitchcock, 21, recorded 68 points (21 goals, 47 assists) and a plus-10 rating in 103 career games with the Bulldogs, including a career-high eight goals in 2014-15. Hitchcock also led all newcomers with 15 points that season, and earned the Martin Dwyer III Award as Yale's rookie MVP.

In addition, Hitchcock helped Team USA capture a Bronze Medal at the 2015 U20 World Junior Championships, and led Team USA to a Gold Medal at the 2014 U18 World Junior Championships. Prior to attending Yale, he skated in the U.S. National Development Program from 2012-14 and played bantam hockey with the Long Island Gulls.
  • On Deck: The Sound Tigers conclude a four-game road trip tomorrow with a 7:05 p.m. matchup against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at PPL Center. Fans can follow all of the live action via the Sound Tigers Radio Network and AHL Live, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.
* ComiConn Night: Your favorite comic book characters and superheroes will take over Webster Bank Arena this Saturday when the Sound Tigers host ComiConn Night against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 7:30 p.m. In addition, a portion of ticket sales and concessions proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish Connecticut to help grant future wishes for kids in the state. Click here for more information or to purchase a special ComiConn Night package.

* Pucks ‘N Paws: Fans are invited to bring their four-legged fans to the WBA this Sunday when they will face the Springfield Thunderbirds at 3 p.m. for Pucks 'N Paws Day, presented by VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Centers (Shoreline and VREC).   • Bridgeport Regionals This Month: The Webster Bank Arena will serve as host site for the NCAA Bridgeport Hockey Regionals on March 23 and 24. Yale and Fairfield will be the event’s co-hosts. Four teams will compete on the 23rd, with the winners advancing to the Regional Final the next day. Teams and times TBD.
