HARTFORD—The Hartford Yard Goats announced today that they will be hosting the 2021 Eastern League All Star Game. The owner of the team said the All Star game will highlight the state, the stadium, and the city of Hartford. Hartford’s Mayor Luke Bronin and Governor Ned Lamont were among those in attendance.

“This is the most fun stadium in America,” said Lamont.

“This is a great thing for the city of Hartford,” Bronin added. “When you see the energy and enthusiasm, that’s a testament to the hard work being done here.” He went on to call the stadium and the team a “center of community.”

Shop owners around the city are looking forward to the event, as the All Stars game will bring three days of big crowds and big business.

El Pollo Guapo opened it’s doors in Hartford last December. It’s one of the newest restaurants downtown. They know first hand what sporting events in the city can do for business.

“The UCONN people and the travels…we have lines out the door, literally, like everyday. With the All Star coming it’s going to crush us,” a Pollo employee said. Indeed, getting “crushed” is what downtown Hartford businesses are hoping in July of 2021.

After the announcement, Governor Lamont posted his excitement saying “The All-Star Game is coming to the best minor league stadium in the US!”
