Sun Sign Kiesel

UNCASVILLE—The Connecticut Sun, the Nutmeg State’s entry in the WNBA, have announced the signing Brianna Kiesel to a training camp contract.

Kiesel, a 5-7 guard who hails from Utica, NY, currently plays for Pszczolka AZS-UMCS in Poland, where she is averaging 20.3 points, 4.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 16 games. She is also shooting 48 percent from the field. Her 20.3 points per game is second in the Polish League and her 2.4 steals per game leads the league.

Selected No.13 overall in the 2015 WNBA Draft by the Tulsa Shock, Kiesel played in all 34 games for the Shock that season, including 15 starts. She averaged 5.1 points and 1.9 assists and popped in a career-high 28 points vs. the Phoenix Mercury on September 13, 2015. She went on to spend part of the 2016 season with the Dallas Wings and was with the Atlanta Dream in 2017. In 57 career WNBA games, she has averaged 3.5 points and 1.6 assists per game.

A three-year captain at Pitt, Kiesel earned first team All-ACC accolades as a senior in 2015. She is the only player in program history to lead the team in points and assists for four straight seasons, and is No. 5 on Pitt’s all-time scoring list with 1,938 points.
