STORRS—UConn field hockey senior Antonia Tiedtke was
selected as the Big East Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the
league Tuesday. Tiedtke led the third-ranked Huskies with one goal and two
assists in the team's 7-0 win over Villanova last Friday. She inserted all of
UConn's penalty corners in the game, which resulted in six of the Huskies'
seven goals.
Defensively,
Tiedtke helped keep Connecticut opponents to no goals and a combined 13 shots
in field play as UConn went 1-1 with a shootout loss (1-0) to No. 15 Syracuse. This
is Tiedtke's second Big East honor of the season and first offensive.
The
Huskies return to action Saturday at No. 17 Liberty at noon. UConn can clinch
at least a share of the Big East regular season title with a win.
