UNCASVILLE—The Connecticut Sun opened up their preseason
with a 100-66 victory over the New York Liberty at the Mohegan Sun Arena on
Monday. It was Game 2 of the first of two preseason doubleheaders at the
Mohegan Sun. In Monday’s opening game, the Atlanta Dream topped the Dallas
Wings, 82-59.
Connecticut,
which won each quarter, won the opening tip, giving them the first possession
of the contest. Although New York got off to a slow start scoring its first
basket more than two minutes into the first quarter, the Liberty opened the
second quarter with an 11-1 run to knot the score. The Sun , however, quickly
regained the lead, took a 14-point lead into the locker room at intermission, and never looked back.
The Sun now will
face the Wings today at 7 p.m. ET in the second doubleheader of this two-day
preseason event. The Liberty open Tuesday’s festivities against the Dream. The

- The Liberty shot 36.8% from the field and 47.8% on 3-pointers (11-23).
- Rebecca Allen led all Liberty scoring with 18 points on 50% shooting from the field and the 3-point line.
- Tina Charles reached double figures with 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
- Kia Nurse scored 10 points on 50% shooting from the 3-point line.
- Tiffany Bias shot 75% (3-4) from the 3-point line to end the game with 9 points.
